How to Charge Portable Juicer Blender with Rechargeable Battery

How to Charge Portable Juicer Blender with Rechargeable Battery

Introduction to How To Charge Portable Blender

A portable blender is a very useful gadget especially for those people who want that quick smoothie on the go. However, a good number of people who own these types of blenders have a challenge of how to charge portable blender.

Most portable blenders only come with a charging cable and no charging brick / adapter. This leaves one wondering how they are supposed to charge the blender.

A portable blender ought to be charged fully before using it for the first time. It should also be charged when the charge is depleted and the red light starts blinking or when it stops spinning entirely.

Can I use a Phone’s Charging Brick to Charge a Portable Rechargeable Blender?

Most portable blenders have an inbuilt Lithium-ion battery (similar to what is used in power banks). This type of battery can easily be charged using a phone’s charging brick because most adapters are rated either 5V or 9V or 12V at either 1A (ampere) or 2.4A or 3A.

Portable blenders like most electronics are designed to only draw the current they require from the charging brick. That is why most blenders are compatible with the majority of phone charging bricks.

Requirements for Charging a Portable Blender

  • USB Charging cable – usually comes with the blender
  • Charging Brick or Adapter- you can use your phone’s charging brick or adapter
  • Mains’ socket or power bank

How to Charge Portable Blender Juicer – The Procedure

  1. Switch off the blender – If you were blending something, start by switching of the blender.
  2. Insert the USB charging cable (comes with the blender or your old android phone cable, micro-USB) into the charging brick. However, some newer models of portable blenders such as the Hotsch Portable Blender, come with a USB-C charging cable which is reversible.
  3. Plug the charging brick into the wall socket
  4. Insert the charging cable into the portable blender
  5. Switch on the power on the wall socket and a red light usually turns on in most blenders
  6. Leave the blender to charge for about 2 to 8 hours depending on the model until the red light turns green.
  7. You can also use a power bank or car’s charger to charge a portable blender on the go. Follow the instructions to learn how.

Fill the USB blender cup halfway with all of the ingredients. Set the blender motor into place. Once in place, the green indicator light will illuminate. To begin blending, press the power button twice.

Using a Power Bank to Charge a Portable Blender

Alternatively, you can use a high-capacity power bank to charge a portable blender. If you have good and powerful power bank e.g., a 10,000 mAh power bank, you can use it to charge your blender.

Before doing this, you have to consider the capacity of the power bank and the capacity of the portable blender’s battery. For example, a 10,000 mAh power bank can fully charge a 2400mAh blender for about 3 or more times (considering the power loss during charging in form of heat).

To charge a portable blender using a Power Bank, for example when one is camping in the wild and want to enjoy their usual nutritious smoothie, you just need to turn on the Power Bank, plug the charging cable into the Power Bank, followed by plugging the cable into the blender.

Using a Car’s Charger to Charge Blender

Some cars have USB charging outlets where you can plug in a portable blender and charge it while on the road or camping. If your car has the normal cigarette charging outlet, you can buy an adapter with a USB outlet to charge your gadget including phones.

How to Know if a Portable Blender is Charging

If you are wondering, how do I know if my Portable Blender is charging? It is very easy since you just check the light on the blender after plugging in the socket where a red color shows that the blender is charging.

When the red color changes to green, it shows that the blender is fully charged. This usually happens after several hours depending on the model of the blender.

Some blenders, for example the Cuisnart EvolutionX Cordless Blender, usually has 3 lights which go on one after the other when charging. One light on means that the blender is about 33% charged while three lights on means that the blender is 100% fully charged.

Other blenders such as the BlendJet blender show different colors. If you are wondering, how do you know if BlendJet is charging? It has a light ring which changes color from purple to blue when charging. When the light around the power button turns into a blue circle then the blender is fully charged.

The circle on the BlendJet usually flashes red and purple when the blender has depleted its charge and its time to plug it in.

Thus, it is very important to read your portable blender’s manual to know what different colors mean to the charging status of the battery.

How Long to Charge a Portable Blender?

This depends on the model of the blender, some charging as fast as 2 hours while others taking as long as 8 hours. This is attributed to the size of the battery installed on the blender as well as the design of its charging system (whether slow, fast, or quick charge).

The charging systems in portable blenders are designed as phone charging systems to some extent. Some phones are designed for slow, fast, or quick chargers and the same applies to portable blenders. The blender’s battery is usually rated in mAh (milli-Ampere hours).

For example, a Pingeon Blendo Portable Blender comes with 2400mAh rechargeable battery and it usually takes 2.5 hours to fully charge this blender.

How to Know if the Portable Blender is Fully USB Charged Blender

This normally depends with the brand of the blender/juicer. The charging system is exactly like the phone system so most blenders have a green or blue light that indicates that the blender is fully charged.

For the BlendJet while charging, the light ring around the power button indicates the battery level. The lights on your BlendJet will change from purple to blue as it charges. Your BlendJet is fully charged when the light around the power button forms a complete blue circle.

Effects of Lack of Charge or Overload on A Portable Blender

Are you wondering why your blender is not working? Not charging a blender or overloading it are some of the two main reasons why portable blenders stop working.

Always ensure you have charged the blender fully before using it for the first time. Also ensure it is charged once the charge is depleted.

It is a good idea to avoid overloading a portable blender by not feeding with ingredients that require more power. Blenders are rated in watts, the more watts the more power is delivered by the motor.

How Long Does a Portable Run After Charging?

Every manufacturer outlines how long their blender runs after being fully charged. Some indicate the continuous run time while others indicate how many blending rounds the blender can achieve.

For example, the manufacturers of Cuisinart EvolutionX Cordless Blender indicate that it has a 20-minute runtime after being fully charged for 2 hours. However, as a user of this blender, I have tested and found that it runs for 18-19 minutes depending on what am blending.

Previously, I was using the Pigeon Blendo Portable Blender whose manufacturers had indicated that it would 20 blends after charging fully for 2.5 hours. However, I was getting about 17 blends per charge when it was new which decreased over time. This can be attributed to the deterioration of the battery.

So we can also conclude that the runtime also depends in the product one is blending.

Some technologically advanced blenders such as the BlendJet 2 Blender uses a USB-C charging and charge as quickly as 1 hour and still deliver as many as 15 blends on one charge.

Whether to Use a Portable Blender When Charging?

Have you been asking yourself; can I use my portable blender while charging? The answer is no. This will destroy the blender’s battery and shorten its lifespan.

Some portable will not even turn on nor spin when charging. So generally, avoid charging your blender and using it at the same time.

Does Submerging my Blender in Water While Washing Destroy the Charging System?

Some portable blenders can be submerged fully in water while washing because they are waterproof. For example, the BlendJet 2 Portable Blender is water resistant can be submerged in water while cleaning. Its charging port has a silicone cover too to help in waterproofing.

However, some portable blenders are not entirely water resistant. For example, the motor base in the Hamilton Beach Personal Blender is not water resistant and cannot be washed in a dishwasher or immersed in water. Nevertheless, its jar and lid can be immersed in water or cleaned in a dishwasher.

Our independent portable and rechargeable battery juice blender review revealed that it is a very useful gadget for not only those sweet smoothies while outside the house but also other functions such as charging one’s phone.

How to Take Care of a Blender’s Charging System

  • Always disconnect the charging cable before using the blender
  • Do not use the portable blender while charging
  • Do not immerse the motor base of the blend in water unless it is indicated in the manual it is water proof

Closing Remarks

Basically, that is how you charge a portable blender. You just need the charging cable and a charging brick, or power bank, or car USB charging port. Plug the charging cable into the charging brick, plug the brick into the wall socket and switch on the power and finally plug in the cable into the portable blender.

Remember not to use your portable blender when it charging especially for those using an inbuilt rechargeable battery unless otherwise stated in the user manual.

It is also good to take precaution when cleaning a rechargeable portable juicer to avoid destroying the charging system.
